This year we are excited and pleased to support the Hotel Dieu Hospital Child Development Centre in the effort to refurbish an occupational therapy gym.

This gym is used primarily by occupational and physical therapists for benefit of those children suffering from sensory disorders, such as the Autism spectrum disorder and Downs Syndrome.

We are introducing several new and innovative fund raising techniques to assist us in reaching our goal of $30,000. Which is ONLY $30 per Brother in the Frontenac District.

1. As always, please feel free to provide your lodge secretary with a donation for the project. Please make cheques payable to the Masonic Foundation of Ontario with the project #2383 noted.

2A. The Masonic Association of Frontenac District has organized a corporate membership that will provide a 10% discount for our members and wife’s when shopping with the Brother. There will be Marks Corporate Membership Cards circulated to each Brother by the end of September 2009.

2B. The Masonic Association of Frontenac District has organized a corporate membership / discount with The Treadmill Factory. Simply present your dues card and receive a 10% pre-tax discount on all regular priced merchandise. The Treadmill Factory is located at 749 Gardiners Rd. Kingston. 4. Shop & Support can be used by any person or group of people (called “supporters”) wanting to raise funds for a cause, project or endeavour.

It’s simple: supporters like you purchase prepaid retailer cards (a.k.a. gift cards, shopping cards, gift certificates) from Shop & Support and use them instead of cash for your purchases at retailers we all know and love. Whether it be groceries, gas, clothing, dining out, home improvement, travel or gift giving (the holidays are coming), pretty much anywhere you shop, you can Shop & Support!

Automatically, up to 15% of each dollar is then contributed to your organization or charity of choice when you buy pre-paid retail/gift cards for your favourite retailers from Shop & Support either through our Online Gift Card Mall or ordering through your organization.

In conclusion, Brethren we all recall the charity lecture and I’m sure would give it if we had the ability. Above are a few new and interesting opportunities for us to exercise this fundamental tenant of our Fraternity.

This year, rather than raffles, tickets etc we are appealing to you in a new way. Let’s use our intellect along with our funds to raise the money required to reach our goal!

Here’s a thought, shop at Marks, buy a few shirts, pants etc. have your Lady do the same and save some money, perhaps $30. Then logon to the Online donation site from the car or at home and pass along the savings to our Project. And guess what? You have just contributed the $30 we need to reach out goal per capita!

Further to that, log onto Shop and Support purchase $300 in gift cards from Marks and $18 will be automitically donated to the project. Added to the $30 in savings received from our 10% discount when contributed to the project $48 has just been raised!!

Have a look at Shop and support, purchase a few gift cards for groceries, gas, clothing etc. And we are WELL on the way.
