R.W.Bro. George E. Snowden, D.D.G.M. 2003 - 2004
George Ernest Snowden
was born 30th October 1934 at Kingston, Ontario and was raised and educated
in the Kingston area. He graduated from Kingston Collegiate and Vocational
Institute in 1955. He was hired by the Department of Highways, Land Survey
Section, Eastern Region, Kingston, Ontario.
He married his wonderful wife Virginia Lamont in 1958. They have two daughters
Kelly and Shelly both married and live in the Kingston, area.
In April 1963, George transferred to the Ontario Provincial Police and was
stationed at the Kingston Detachment where he patrolled the local highways
and conducted various criminal investigations. He was appointed as Court
Officer where all Criminal Court Briefs were reviewed by him before presentation
to the Crown Attorney for prosecution. George also prosecuted Provincial
Offenses in front of Justices of the Peace and local Provincial Court Judges.
He retired from the Ontario Provincial Police 29 June 1990 and was asked
by the Ontario Court of Justice to assist them with their court as Deputy
Registrar and Clerk of the Court until he was retired from there in October
1999.
George volunteered with the Correctional Service of Canada and transported
Federal inmates to the Westbrook United Church in 2002 during the refurbishing
of the Church pews. In 2001 he was awarded a medallion as a volunteer during
the celebration of the Year of the Volunteer by the Correctional Service
of Canada.

Brother George is a member of Prince Arthur Lodge No. 228, A.F & A.M. Formerly
at Odessa, Prince Arthur Lodge is now meeting in Bath, Ontario.
Initiated 20 February 1961; Passed 11 May 1961; Raised 12 October 1961;
Installed as Tyler 27 December 1961; Progressed through the Offices and
was Worshipful Master in 1969;
Immediate Past Master 1970; Member of The Centennial Anniversary Committee
of Prince Arthur Lodge;
Treasurer 1971 and 1972; Served as Secretary for 30 consecutive years 1973
to 2003;
Served as Secretary of Prince Arthur Masonic Hall Incorporation - September 1990 to May 2003;
Chairman of the District Benevolence Committee 1977 - 1978
Joined the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite; Kingston Valley Lodge of Perfection 14th Degree on 21 May 1981
Kingston Valley Chapter Rose Croix 18th Degree on 25 March 1982; Ottawa Consistory Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree on 1 May
1989; Joined the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Rameses Temple at the Kingston Ceremony 8 June 1985; Joined the Kingston District Shrine Club 1985 and Served as President in 2000
Was recipient of the Gold Honour Award of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America in 1993
Was elected Vice President of the Masonic Association of Frontenac District in May 2001; Elected President of the Association in May 2002; Confirmed by the Grand Master as District Deputy Grand Master of Frontenac
District, July 2003
