R. W. Bro. Virgil C. Garrett, D.D.G.M. 1988 - 1989

Virgil C. Garrett was born in Zealand, Ontario, 3 April 1922. He is a graduate of Sharbot Lake High School and the Ontario College of Education, University of Toronto. Virgil taught shop at Sharbot Lake High School from 1959 until his retirement as head of the Shop Department in 1987. He is married to Beryl, a graduate of Queen's University, and they have two daughters; Anne, a graduate of Queen's University, and Jane, a graduate of Brock University.
Virgil has been the Clerk of Session, Sharbot Lake United Church from 1967 to 1997, and an active choir member since 1959. His hobbies are making grandfather clocks, gardening and bee-keeping. He is a member of the Lanark County Beekeepers Association and the Ontario Beekeepers Association. He ihas been a Captain in the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps.
In 1998, Virgil was recognized in Central Frontenac County as Senior of the Year.

Virgil is a member of Frontenac Lodge No. 621, A.F & A.M. G.R.C. in Sharbot Lake, Ontario.

Initiated May 1946, progressed through the Offices and was elected Worshipful Master in 1970. He is a Charter member of Limestone Daylight Lodge No. 739, and was President of the Past Masters, Masters and Wardens Association, 1987 - 1988.
