Web Site Policy

This site will perform two functions for the Kingston Masonic community:

  • We will maintain current information of use to Masons within the District, and to those who are thinking of visiting this District, and
  • We will try to deliver accurate information to non-masons who wish to know more about our fraternity.

To this end, we are implementing a number of web policies to better serve this community.

  1. We recognise that many who are interested in Freemasonry are not gifted with the latest technology, nor can they afford to upgrade. However, we have upgraded the site to the Xhtm 1.0 Standard to improve response, and we no longer support 640 X 480 screen resolution. The minimum resolution required for proper viewing in 800 X 600. We have also moved the sidebar menu to the end of the document flow so users who use auditory browsers do not have to listed to the menu each time they load a new page.
  2. In the current web environment, email addresses are collected from web sites to provide destinations for spam email. To protect those who we list on this site, email addresses are not published. When you send email using our contact forms, our server will forward the email to the intended recipient after we have checked it for malicious content, proper formatting and various spam indicators.
  3. By the same token, we will not publish home addresses, phone numbers etc, unless we receive instructions to do so, in writing, from the individual concerned.
  4. To encourage District lodges to establish and maintain their own websites, any lodge in Frontenac District may have their site hosted as a sub-domain of the format lodgename.frontenacmasons.ca/ at no cost to the lodge, on the condition that the lodge site maintains a link of approved form back to the Frontenac District site.
  5. Lodges which do not have Grand Lodge Approval for their websites will not be linked from this site..
  6. Accounts are required on this site for those who wish to post content. All content is available to the public! Any posts are moderated, and are only published to the site after review.
  7. Accounts are based in email addresses. When you register as a user, an email will be sent to you with a link. When you click on the link, you have verified that you have received the email, and you will then be able to set your password, and to post content.
We take the issue of your privacy seriously!

Your personal information is used only for its intended purpose. eg, if you email us, the email address is only used to reply to you. Frontenac District will never use that information for any other purpose!
